Doug is a seasoned venture capital investor, director and serial entrepreneur who, for 25 years, has invested in and advised growth companies in a variety of applications software, infrastructure software and business services markets. Doug founded Navigant Ventures, providing Board advisory services to emerging growth companies located in the Mid-Atlantic. Prior to Navigant, he managed institutional venture capital investments for TL Ventures, Apax Partners and Edison Partners.
During his career, Doug has participated on the Boards of Directors of over thirty companies and advised several dozen more in those portfolios in the areas of market entry and sales expansion with an emphasis on achieving scale and efficiency in those functions. Among these were Coredial, CML Emergency Services, Fiberlink, Itelagen, Portico Systems, Princeton Softech, TrueCommerce, and WAM Systems, each of which delivered superior returns.
Aside from venture capital, Doug was CEO of Orion Fleet Intelligence and has held executive positions in sales, marketing, product marketing, product development and corporate finance for On-Site Specialty Care, which he co-founded, Dialogic (Intel), and business units of Honeywell and United Technologies. He is active in the entrepreneurial community with Ben Franklin Technology Partners and the Wharton School.
Doug holds a B.S. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Cornell University, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
